We want to improve the lives of our workers, their families and our community through responsible business and true sustainability.
We focus closely on the Triple Bottom Line:
Ecological sustainability: The Kalahari Melon is indigenous to our region. It evolved in the Kalahari Desert, and is the most drought-resistant and hardy plant that grows in the area. When the rains don't come and traditional crops fail, it’s likely that the Kalahari Melon is still standing.
Economic sustainability: By developing a market for Kalahari Melon Seed oil, we hope to bring back economic activity to our area, after the local farming community was recently devastated by the worst drought in 80 years.
Social sustainability: The return of economic activity will also bring back the jobs lost during the drought—providing food, shelter and security to our community. As employment returns, social problems and conflict will decrease.
This is our compass. These are our core commitments.
